whatIf? Technologies provides a model hosting service to clients opting not to acquire and maintain a Unix-based system, the platform of the whatIf? server.
- Clients may access their models from their Windows desktop computers via the internet.
- Models may be hosted on either a dedicated or a shared server located on the premises of whatIf? Technologies and managed by whatIf? Technologies.
- Models may be hosted on a dedicated server located of the premises of the client and managed by whatIf? Technologies.
- Security is assured through the use of virtual private network (VPN) technology.
- whatIf? Technologies performs all tasks associated with server management including the creation and deletion of user accounts, incremental and full backups, recovery of files from backups, and usage monitoring.
- whatIf? Technologies may be engaged to update model databases and maintain client models.
The extent to which our clients engage our model hosting and related services is flexible. Clients may prefer to be self-sufficient and therefore maintain in-house technical expertise. Others may require ongoing assistance for model maintenance and data updates, allowing them to focus on core modelling activities - analysis and planning.
